Mary Elizabeth Isenberg (née McGee) was born on March 12, 1930, in Alabama to William Leroy and Ethel McGee. Throughout her life, she made her home in Glen Burnie, where she became a cherished member of the community. Mary dedicated her working years to serving as a janitor for an apartment complex, having earlier been employed at Union Station in Washington, D.C., a place where she encountered many notable individuals.
A spirited woman with a deep and abiding faith, Mary found great joy in dance, particularly polka, which she delighted in for over three decades at Blob’s Park in Jessup. Those who knew her remember her as a pleasant soul, graced with a warm smile that brightened the days of friends and acquaintances alike.
Mary’s favorite dishes included spaghetti, pizza, and chicken and dumplings—simple comforts that reflected her warm and welcoming nature.
She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, her husband William Andrew Isenberg, her son William Lawrence Isenberg, her daughter Karen Jane Isenberg, and an infant son. She is survived by her son-in-law, Timothy Hammen of Glen Burnie; her cherished friend, Darlene Taylor of Glen Burnie; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild, all of whom hold her memory dear.
Mary Elizabeth Isenberg’s life was a testament to resilience, faith, and the joy found in everyday moments, and her legacy endures in the hearts of those who loved her.
