Melinda Lee (nee Miller) McDaniel was born in Mena, Arkansas on July 23, 1936 to the late Melvin and Maurine (nee Dodson) Miller. Mrs. McDaniel was a retired Special Education Teacher in Harlingen Texas. Melinda McDaniel moved from Harlingen, TX to Glen Burnie MD fifteen years ago to be closer to her sister. She was a church organist for over 50 years, and stayed an active member in several churches including Grace Episcopal Church in Weslaco, TX, Resurrection Episcopal Church in Baltimore, MD and St. Alban's Church in Glen Burnie, MD. In addition to playing the organ, Melinda enjoyed sewing, knitting watch caps for cancer patients, reading, telling stories, taking college classes and doing crafts. She belonged to the Daughters of the King.
Melinda passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by the love of her family on January 14, 2021. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Donald Lee McDaniel and one grandchild. Those left to cherish her memory are her sons Keith M. McDaniel (Gloria) of Houston, TX, Bruce R. McDaniel (Peggy) of Mays Landing, NJ, and Lyle R. McDaniel (Kelly) of Ashland, KY, daughters Robin Lee McDaniel of Glen Burnie, MD, and April Lynn Walling of Weslaco, TX, and sister Meribeth Miller of Chantilly, VA. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Melinda will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
A memorial service will be held in south Texas at a later date.
