Melvia Marie Warner Scott died on February 10, 2018 at North Arundel Health and Rehab . She was 90.
Born on September 16, 1927, in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Marie Weber Warner and Maurice Edwin Warner.
After graduating from Western High School, she attended Strayer Business College. She worked as a bookkeeper for Montgomery Ward and Harry P. Cann and Brothers.
In 1948 she married Clarence Davis “Pete” Scott and moved to North Carolina, then back to Baltimore, and eventually to Ferndale, where they resided for 57 years. She was a member of Ferndale Methodist Church, the Ferndale Community Club and had been a member of Ferndale Homemakers, where she had served as president.
Melvia was an active member of the Ferndale Senior Citizens, and served as its president for the last 35 years. Along with Pete, she planned the trips for the club’s “Roadrunners.”
She is survived by her beloved husband of 69 years Clarence Scott; two cherished daughters, Suzann S. Lindsay (Robert) of St. Michaels, and Daviette Scott of Ferndale; three faithful granddaughters, Karen L. Sowder (Mark) of Goodview VA, Deborah L Bonham (Andrew) of Salem VA and Jennifer McGuire ( John) of Savannah GA. and ten treasured great-grandchildren: Andrew, Kaylynn, Josiah, Matthias, Benaiah, Jamin, Ainsley, Carrington, Ewan and Sofia. She is also survived by her dear cousin Jeannette W. Radtke
Interment private.
Memorial service will be held at Ferndale United Methodist Church on Saturday, February 24 at 11 o’clock. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Ferndale United Methodist Church, 117 Ferndale Road, Glen Burnie.
