Nelson P. Janz

February 6, 1948 — August 26, 2023

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Nelson Peter Janz, a beloved husband, father, brother, and
friend. Nelson was born on February 6th, 1948 and peacefully departed from this world on Saturday, August 26th, 2023.
He leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion, and dedication to his family, friends, and community.

Nelson was the youngest of three siblings, with two adoring sisters, Barbara Roche and Patricia Janz, who shared in his
joys and supported him throughout his life's journey. Nelson's devotion to his family was unwavering, evident in his love
for all his children. He was a proud father to Chris and Jason Janz, and a caring stepfather to Ryan and Kelley Stike. He was the grandfather of Laurel Janz, Will Janz, Nick Adkins, Cali Crowe and Tara Crowe.  His love extended beyond bloodlines, embracing all those who were fortunate enough to know him.

Nelson found his soulmate in Kathy Janz, and their enduring love was a source of inspiration to all who witnessed it.
Their marriage of 35 years was a testament to the power of love, partnership, and unwavering commitment.

A true hero in every sense, Nelson dedicated 38 years of his life to serving the Anne Arundel County Fire Department,
where he rose to the esteemed position of Battalion Chief. His selflessness, courage, and leadership earned him the
respect and admiration of his colleagues, and his impact on the community will be felt for generations to come.  Nelson received the Shock trauma hero award.

Nelson's passions were as diverse as they were heartfelt. He had an insatiable curiosity about the world and a love for
travel, exploring every corner of our country. His face would light up with childlike wonder at his favorite destination,
Walt Disney World, where he found joy in the magic of imaginaton. A sports enthusiast and proud Maryland fan, he
cheered on his favorite teams with an infectious enthusiasm that brought people together.

But perhaps one of Nelson's greatest joys was found in the kitchen. He had an exceptional talent for cooking,
transforming meals into cherished memories for all who were lucky enough to taste his creations. The holidays held a
special place in his heart, especially Christmas, which he celebrated with his family in the warm embrace of love and
togetherness.

Nelson Peter Janz's legacy lives on in the hearts of all those he touched. His kindness, generosity, and unyielding love will
be remembered by friends, family, and the community he served so faithfully. As we mourn his passing, let us also
celebrate the beautiful life he lived and the profound impact he had on the world around him. May his spirit find eternal
peace.

In lieu of a memorial service or flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Anne Arundel County
Firefighters Emerald Society in Nelson's name. https://aaemerald.com/donate
