Patricia Ruth “Mrs. Pat” Stanley
May 24, 1948 – January 8, 2025
Glen Burnie, MD
Patricia Ruth “Mrs. Pat” Stanley, 76, of Glen Burnie, Maryland, passed away peacefully
on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, surrounded by her loving family under the
compassionate care of Hospice of the Chesapeake.
Born on May 24, 1948, in Baltimore, Maryland, Patricia was the daughter of Wilford Hill
and Lorraine Ruth (Limberg) Rumpf. She graduated from Glen Burnie High School in
1966, and a week later, married the love of her life, Allen “Ken” Stanley.
Patricia’s love for her family was immeasurable. She shared a deep, lifelong bond with
her husband, Ken, with whom she spent 58 beautiful years of marriage. Their love and
partnership were a source of strength and happiness throughout her life. As a mother,
Patricia was incredibly proud of her children, Michael, Mark, and Susan. She was
always there to support them, offering unconditional love, guidance, and
encouragement. Her family was the center of her world, and she found her greatest joy
in spending time with them, creating lasting memories and nurturing the close-knit
relationships they shared.
Patricia was known by many as “Mrs. Pat,” the devoted Director of Religious Education
at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, where she worked for 25 years before retiring in 2012.
Even after her retirement, her commitment to her faith and her parish community
remained unwavering. She continued to volunteer and support various church activities,
always finding ways to serve and make a difference. Her dedication to her faith was a
cornerstone of her life, and her lasting impact on the church community will be
cherished by all who knew her.
A gifted crafter, Patricia had a creative spirit that infused everything she touched.
Whether it was cross-stitching, sewing, card-making, or jewelry design, she had the
ability to turn her ideas into beautiful works of art.
Patricia enjoyed all new adventures - traveling, she fondly recalled her three cross-
country trips to many national parks. Cruising with friends, one where she experienced
ziplining in Alaska that she described as both breathtaking and exhilarating. She loved
being immersed in nature, camping, and singing around the campfire. She enjoyed
watching and discussing The Chosen with her Listening Hearts group and monthly
Bunko nights with the girls!
Patricia was also a passionate shopper, especially when she could use a 30% off Kohl
coupon, which she always considered a win-win. Her days often featured the soothing
sounds of Neil Diamond or Casting Crowns playing in the background as she baked
cookies, made her mother’s famous potato salad, or enjoyed a slice of fruit pie—her favorite treat. One of her greatest joys was enjoying a steaming bowl of hot Cream of Crab soup served piping hot, just the way she liked it.
Patricia’s family and faith were at the heart of everything she did. She was a devoted
wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt, always putting those
she loved first. One of her greatest joys was spending time with her grandchildren and
great-grandchildren, sharing in their lives and creating memories that they will cherish
forever. Patricia treasured the time spent with her sister, daughter, and nieces. Whether
it was enjoying day trips shopping, tea parties, live shows, or delightful dinners where
they all shared from the same plate, these moments were filled with laughter and love.
Patricia loved playing Phase 10 with her brother, “Bubby,” and took great delight in
gloating when she won, adding a playful spirit to their time together.
Patricia made her house a true home, filling it with love, warmth, and a welcoming spirit.
Whether she was cooking a delicious meal for family dinner night (making sure dessert
was covered) preparing for Saturday night cards with friends, or decorating for the
holidays, her home was always a place where everyone felt cared for and valued.
Her kitchen table was often the gathering spot for family conversations, laughter, and
moments of togetherness, a place where everyone knew they were loved. Patricia’s
nurturing presence will be deeply missed, but her legacy of love, faith, and family will
continue to inspire and live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
Patricia was also deeply committed to giving back to her community. She devoted time
volunteering with Hope for All. Her passion for helping those in need was a testament to
her caring nature and her unwavering belief in the power of service, her love language.
Through her volunteer work and other acts of kindness, Patricia touched and made a
meaningful impact in the lives of many, and her legacy of compassion and selflessness
will be remembered by all who had the privilege of working alongside her.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Wilford Hill Rumpf and Lorraine Ruth
(Limberg) Rumpf; her son, Michael Allen Stanley; her sister, Nancy Carolyn Wallace;
and her sister-in-law, Sheila Gay Rumpf.
