Phyllis M. Babcock

Born Phyllis Marie Kennedy in Boston, Massachusetts on October 5, 1925 to James Edward Kennedy and his wife Ellen Kennedy (nee Burns) she was raised in the Jamaica Plains area of Boston. She fell in love with Robert E. Babcock and they married in 1954. She enjoyed her role as a military wife and the extensive travel that came with it. Upon her husband's retirement from the Army, they settled down in the Monkton, MD area. A member of St. John's Catholic Church in Hydes, MD, Phyllis enjoyed Bird Watching, following politics and the news, lighthouses and trips to the beach. The jewels in her crown were her children and grandchildren, to whom she was lovingly referred to as "Nana". After battling with several health issues in the last couple of years, she peacefully passed away at Baltimore Washington Medical Center, surrounded by her family. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband, and her son Stephen J. Babcock. Surviving are her beloved children Robert E. Babcock, Jr. and David B. Babcock, both of Jacksonville, Maryland and daughters Cheryl A. Ruddick of Millersville, MD, Nancy E. Krappitz of Phoenix, AZ and Ruth E. Dennis of Butler, TN She is also survived by her sister Carole McAvoy of Dennis, MA as well as 15 adoring grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
