Ralph L. Maddrix

October 17, 1922 — September 1, 2013

Ralph Lawson Maddrix, born October 17, 1922 in Crisfield, MD passed away on September 1, 2013 after an extended illness. Ralph is survived by his sister, Emily Johnson of Raleigh, NC and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Maddrix was married to Bettye L. Maddrix (nee Johnson) until her passing and then Charlotte M. Maddrix (nee Shaffell) in October of 2001. He served in the Army Air Corp, Private, and Control Tower Operator during WWII until to his Honorable Discharge in February of 1946. After 47 years of employment with Westinghouse, Ralph retired in February of 1988. Ralph was a lifetime member of the American Legion #223, lifetime member of Garrison Rifle and Revolver Club, Inc., member of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, life member of Waverly Lodge # 152, life member of the "First Hundred Club" of Boumi Temple and was admitted to the Nobles of the Mystic Shrine in the Boumi Temple of Baltimore, Permanent Contributing Member to the Maintenance Fund of the Shriners Hospital for crippled Children, and received the high honor of being a Scottish Rite Mason for fifty years. He enjoyed playing the organ in his home, attending organ concerts, was an avid golfer, traveling throughout the United States with his first wife, frequently donated to numerous charitable organizations and he frequently wrote letters to his congressman and state legislature about views on various subjects, such as gun control. In addition to his first wife, Mr. Maddrix is preceded in death by his parents, Elijah S.Maddrix and Adiana Virginia Maddrix (nee Lawson) and his brother, James Maddrix.
