Richard L. Dorsey, Sr., 69, of Gettysburg, PA passed away on Friday, August 1, 2014 at Hershey Medical Center following a long illness. Richard was born April 22, 1945 in London, England the son of the late Louis and Lilian Galla Dorsey. He was the beloved husband of 30 years of Easter S. Dorsey. Richard was a graduate of Arundel High School, Gambrills, MD. He served in the U.S. Army as a sergeant during the Vietnam War from 1966 ��" 1968. Early on he was employed by his father at Dorsey Motors in Dorsey, MD. He later worked for 35 years until his retirement at Baltimore Aircoil Company. Following his retirement he was employed at 7-11 on the Baltimore Pike in Gettysburg, PA. He also owned and operated Dorsey Towing in Gettysburg. Richard was a life member of the Vietnam Veterans Association Post PA 59 and Gettysburg VFW Post 15. He was a member of Latimore Valley Old Time Auto Club. He was also a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Gettysburg, PA. Richard enjoyed racing cars, he drove in the Late Model, Figure 8, Derby and Old Time divisions at Dorsey Speedway, Richie Raceway, Trailways Speedway, and Latimore Valley Fairgrounds. Richard was a Civil War buff who enjoyed, tow trucks, hot rods, camping and spending time with his family, grandchildren, friends and his dogs. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Easter Dorsey, four children; Richard Dorsey, II and his wife Stephanie, Sherry Hicks and her husband Robert of Gettysburg, PA, Keith Dorsey and his wife Karen of Thurmont, MD, Jennifer Little and her husband Shane of Thurmont, MD, 15 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and his beloved dogs; Bear and Tipper. He was predeceased by a son, Christopher Dorsey and a sister, Pamela Dorsey.
