Richard Thomas Jufer

Richard Thomas Jufer, of Linthicum, Maryland, passed away peacefully on July 30, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.  He was a retired software engineer, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.

Richard grew up in Tonawanda, New York, where he developed the strong work ethic and sense of dedication that stayed with him throughout his life.  He had many interests and enjoyed keeping his mind busy.  Whether he was building detailed models, working on computers, or pursuing his passion for health and fitness, he always approached his hobbies with enthusiasm.  He also found great joy in the  company of his beloved cats.

More than anything else, Richard loved his family.  He took great pride in his children and grandchildren and treasured the time he spent with them.

Richard was predeceased by his beloved wife, Mary Anne, who remained the love of his life.  Even after her passing, he continued to speak of life in terms of "we", showing that his love for her never faded.  He never removed his wedding ring and carried her memory with him every day.  Their enduring love was the center of his life.

He is survived by his three children: Rebecca Phipps and her husband, Jeff; Alicia Belt and her partner, Daniel Reeves; and Christopher Jufer and his wife, Veronica.  He is also survived by his sister, Linda Ertel, and her husband, Dennis, as well as his much-loved cat, Badness. 

Richard's greatest joy was his grandchildren: Riley Belt, Grayson Belt, Sydney Phipps, McKaylee Jufer, Daniel Phipps, Joshua Phipps, Conor Jufer and Colin Jufer. He enjoyed getting to know each of his grandchildren as individuals and loved talking with them about their hobbies, interests and accomplishments. He was incredibly proud of each of them. 

A private celebration of Richard's life will be held by his family on October 2, 2026.

Richard will be remembered for his love for his family, his loyalty, and the lasting impact he had on those who knew and loved him.
