Robert Bruce Perry was born on Sunday, January 29, 1933, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Irene Mae (Gilgan) Perry and Robert Nicholson Perry. He married his high school sweetheart, Shirley Jean (Page) Perry on June 7, 1952. Bruce was a wonderful provider and started his career in sheet metal and with his father-in-law’s plumbing business. Bruce and Shirley had a restaurant, The Real McCoy, that had the best fried chicken and pies. They had the original salad bar which Bruce made himself before it was popular. In addition, they also had a custom home construction business. He retired several times but couldn’t sit still so he branched out and learned how to use a computer and a special CAD program for construction and eventually traveled to businesses and taught them how to use it. He finally retired for one last time and spent time with his family.
Bruce was a devoted Husband, father, grandfather (better known as Bub), great- grandfather, and great-great-grandfather. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Shirley Jean of 70 years, his parents Irene and Robert, sister, Carol Lynne Perry, and daughter, Pamela Jean (Perry) Gates. He is survived by his daughter Lynne Marie (Perry) Whittington and her husband, Arthur Hurst Whittington III, 4 grandchildren, Jeremy Gates, Michelle Newland, Sherry Edwards, and Cameron Whittington, 8 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. His love for his family and his caring manner will be greatly missed by everyone.
