Roger E. Crawford, Sr.

Roger Edwin Crawford, Sr., 88, resident of Severn, died on Monday, February 24, 2025, under hospice care at Autumn Lake in Waugh Chapel.
Roger was born on Saturday, February 6, 1937, in Odenton, Maryland, to Franklin and Hilda (Reigle) Crawford. He was raised in Anne Arundel County and graduated from Arundel High School in 1955. Roger joined the Army in 1959 and served for our country until his honorable discharge in 1965. After returning, he got a job at the United States Postal Service as a Letter Carrier, mainly in the Ft. Meade area. Roger enjoyed being a postal worker, especially during a time when you knew who actually delivered your mail. He also enjoyed working on small engines, lawn mowers. It was very often that Roger would work his day as a mail carrier and then come to lawn mowers that have been dropped off in the driveway for him to work on. When he wasn't tinkering and fixing the lawn mowers, you could find him in the yard, farming/gardening. He enjoyed the simple things and will be missed by many.

Roger is preceded by his parents, Franklin and Hilda (Reigle) Crawford. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Catharine Ann (Chalfant) Crawford of Severn; his son, Roger Edwin Crawford, Jr. (Rosely) of North Ft. Myers, Florida; his brother, Raymond Crawford of Gambrills; his sister, Mable Gladys Crawford Edwards of Crownsville; his grandchildren, Ashley Marie Allen and Leonardo Da Silva and his great grandson, Ashton Lee Martin.

Family and friends may call at the KIRKLEY RUDDICK FUNERAL HOME on Wednesday, March 12th, 2-4pm and 6-8pm. Funeral service will be on Thursday, March 13th, 10:00am at the funeral home. Interment is private.
