Ronald Merritt

December 18, 1924 — February 16, 2014

Ronald Merritt (MSGT - U.S. Army Ret.) was born September 18, 1924 in Chincoteague, VA to Edward and Sarah Merritt (nee Reynolds). He graduated from Chincoteague High School before joining the Army in 1942 where he would serve until his retirement in 1965. He then had a second career as a civilian employee working with the Army at Ft. Meade, MD where he worked for 20 years. Ronald was a member of the VFW Post in Parkville and the Trinity United Meth. Ch.. In his spare time he was a Orioles and Baltimore Colts Fan, he treasured time spent with his family and loved dancing with his sweetheart, his wife of 57 years Charlotte J. Merritt (nee Clark) of Severn. He was a resident of Severn for 60 Years. In addition to his wife, Ronald is survived by his son Michael Merritt and his wife Gloria of Annapolis and his daughter Nisa Popper and her husband Tim of Catonsville. He is also survived by grandchildren Jacob Merritt, Kellen and Devin Popper as well as a sister in law Catherine Merritt of Chincoteague, VA. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother Raymond Merritt.
