Ruth D. Altvater

Ruth D. Altvater (nee: Brummet), 80, a lifelong resident of Glen Burnie area, died June 16, 2013. Born August 26, 1932 in Baltimore, Md to Dillard Brummet, Sr. and his wife Martha Brummet (nee: Borman). Ruth was caring for children over 30 years at Ferndale Daycare. A lifetime member of Anne Arundel Alarmers. She loved reading, doing word puzzles and also giving her time to care for others. Also absolutely loved spending time in her trailer at the beach. Ruth is preceded in death by her parents; husband George David Altvater, Jr. and brother John Brummet, Sr. Ruth is survived by 3 sons, Gary J. Smolko and his wife Gloria of Ferndale, David W. Altvater and his wife Heather of Ferndale, Michael D. Altvater and his wife Kathy of Dundalk; 2 sisters, Freida Chilcoat and husband Frank of West Virginia, Emma Smith of Virginia; 2 brothers, Dillard Brummet, Jr. and wife Ann Marie of Dundalk, Walter Brummet and wife Sharon of Chase; several nieces and nephews; 4 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
