Ruth Mae Hemmings
On April 30, 2017, Ruth Mae Hemmings, our beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great-Mom Mom, passed away from numerous complications from a fall at the age of 89. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, John Hemmings, Sr., her siblings, Katherine Evenden, Charles Mewshaw and Robert Mewshaw, Sr. She was a devoted mother to son, John Hemmings, Jr. and his wife Kristina Hemmings; Daughter, Linda Wiles and her husband Richard Allen Wiles, Sr. Mrs. Hemmings is survived by two grandchildren: Richard Allen Wiles, Jr. and wife Alyssa; Julie Hemmings, her precious granddaughter, and her two great-grandchildren Kennedy and Bode Allen Wiles.
Mrs. Hemmings was born on February 1, 1928 in Baltimore, MD. She was a working Mom for the Kersh Blind Company and later Arundel Federal Bank for 37 years in the savings Department. Upon retirement she volunteered at Millersville, Harmans and George Cromwell Elementary schools in Anne Arundel County. She sang in the choir at Our Lady of the Fields Catholic church in Millersville. Mrs. Hemmings enjoyed doing water aerobics with a group called the "Water Babes".
The Family will be receiving visitors at the family owned Kirkley-Ruddick Funeral Home, 421 Crain Highway, South East, Glen Burnie, MD 21061 on Thursday May 4, 2017 from 3-5 and 7-9. At 1:45 P.M. on Friday may 5, 2017 interment will occur at the Crownsville MD Veteran's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in her name may be made to the Wounded Warriors at www.woundedwarriorproject.org.
