Sarah Catherine Slater was born in Baltimore City on June 30, 1934, to Louis J. and Irene J. (Norton) Sears. Sarah was a dietary worker for Marley Neck and other nursing homes in the area. She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church for several years. Loved going to the Casinos to gamble, going to the movies and having lunch afterwards with her sons. An Orioles game against the Yankees was a must see; she was a Yankee fan and loved New York. She read religious material often and gave to several charities; she was very giving. Sarah loved to tell stories and go to the movies, for walks and play puzzles and games. She often cleaned while playing records and singing along with Patsy Cline and Hank Williams, her children recall. Being surrounded by her family and watching her grandchildren grow and play all their sports brought her the most joy. She will be missed by so many.
She is preceded by her parents, Louis J. Sears and Irene J. (Norton) Sears; husband, Charles Hubert Slater, Sr., and 10 siblings. She is survived by her children, Charles Hubert Slater, Jr. (Theresa) of Glen Burnie, Louis Slater (Barbara) of Sykesville, Michelle Lyman of San Antonio, Texas, and Brenda Sanoske (Dennis) of Pasadena; 11 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
