Sonia A. Hicks

Mrs. Sonia Annetta Campbell Hicks (Susus) was born July 9, 1957 to the late Mr. and Mrs. Uriel and Elizabeth Campbell in Jamaica, West Indies. Sonia was the fifth born of nine children. Sonia departed this life on May 21, 2014 after a 12 year battle with lung cancer. She was 56 years old. Sonia migrated from Jamaica, West Indies to Queens, New York as a teenager in 1971. While in Queens, New York she was educated in the Queens County public school system. As an adult she moved to the Washington D.C. area, where she studied and became a licensed practical nurse. In 1987, Sonia would relocate to Laurel, Maryland where she would soon meet Donald H. Hicks. They later married on August 16, 1996 and to this union; they raised two children, Johnathan Campbell and Jessica Monique Hicks. Mrs. Sonia Hicks lived in Severn, Maryland for 25 years. She enjoyed listing to reggae music, gardening, small carpentry, knitting, making pottery and crafts. She leaves to cherish her life and memory: Husband, Donald H.
