Sylvia Marie Spangle, beloved mother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully from cancer at Oakcrest Village. She was born on March 13, 1945, in Baltimore, Maryland, to the late Samuel and Evelyn Compton Himmel.
Sylvia spent 50 years in Glen Burnie. She worked as a deli clerk in several grocery stores, always greeting customers with kindness and a warm smile. A woman of faith, she was a devoted member of St. Bernadette’s Catholic Church.
She found joy in life’s simple pleasures—playing Bingo, going to the casino, baking treats for friends and neighbors, and trips to the beach. She loved to dance, and her lively spirit could light up any room, but most of all enjoyed being with her family.
Sylvia is now reunited with her beloved husband, Robert L. Spangle. She is survived by her loving daughter, Michele Spangle of Baltimore; her brother, Thomas Himmel of Murrells Inlet, SC; and her sister, Joann Himmel of Parkville. Her warmth and kindness will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
