She was born Thelma E. Haas in Baltimore, MD on April 1, 1931, to the late John and Anna Haas and she lived in northern Anne Arundel County for many years. She passed away peacefully at the Rebecca Fortney Inpatient Care Center of Hospice of the Chesapeake. Thelma enjoyed shopping with her daughter Susan and taking casino trips with her nephew Bruce. She enjoyed going places and doing things, especially involving the arts, going to theatre performances, especially on Broadway and musicals. Thelma loved Christmas holidays spent with the family in NYC to see the Rockettes and anytime spent in Manhattan and Time Square. She also enjoyed caring for her dogs, Miles and McGregor, in her peaceful beautiful oasis of a home that she created. Thelma was a lover of all types of music, it was always playing throughout the house, with her singing and dancing. She played the piano, and was extremely well read, as she read a book a day. She also was an avid Oriole fan. During her working career she was an assistant vice president in the insurance industry. She was very strong willed, courageous, outgoing, and outspoken. Thelma had a deep Catholic faith who raised her family with an abundance of love that radiated a beautiful light within her. In addition to her parents, Thelma is preceded by her husband Charles H. Sisk. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter Susan M. Riggins and her nephew Bruce Lavonis. The love and commitment for her daughter, Susan, and nephew, Bruce, was always her priority and the deep bond that they shared here on earth and will transcend into eternity. She will be greatly missed.
