Traute Nichel

Born Traute Roedelstab in Germany in 1921 she emigrated to the United States with her now late husband Edward Nickel in the early 1950's. She worked for many years as a Bakery Manager for Giant Foods and was proud that at the time, she was the only woman bakery manager in Maryland. She lived in Stevenson for many years until failing health caused her to move to assisted living several years ago. She was a member of Jehovah's Witnesses. In her spare tim, Traute enjoyed Travel, Gardening, her cats, Music and she loved a good meal. She is survived by her daughter Christa Ganzer and Granddaughter Colleen Ganzer both of Germany as well as a brother Harry Roedelstab and sister Sonia Roedelstab, both of Germany. In addition to her husband she was preceeded in death by her sister Elly Gaedtke. She is also survived by her friends of over 50 years Else Steffen of Catonsville and Hans Steffen of Linthicum.
