She was born Virginia L. Hendrix on August 31, 1928 in North Carolina to the late Gordon and Dora Wyatt Hendrix. She was a longtime resident of Glen Burnie. She enjoyed doing needlepoint, various crafts doing jigsaw puzzles, but the center of her life was time spent with family. Virginia was known for her sense of humor, the jokes and funny songs she would make up and sing to her family. She claimed that laughter was the key to her long life. In addition to her parents, she is preceded by her husband of over 66 years Lewis R. Whetzler who passed away in September of 2023 as well as her brothers and sisters Leonard, Clarence, Clyde, Ralph and Gordon Hendrix, Eva Edwards, Nina Pruitt, Ruth Hendrix, Juanita Magness, Maxine Badger and Ruby Adams. Left to cherish her memory are her children Robert P. Whetzler of Texas, Randall L. Whetzler of Edgewood and Roxane G. Casto of Glen Burnie as well as 7 cherished grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
Family and friends may visit at the KIRKLEY RUDDICK FUNERAL HOME on Wednesday, June 12th, 2-4pm and 6-8pm. Funeral service will be Thursday June 13th 11:00am. Interment Glen Haven Memorial Park.
