Virginia Dora Williams

Virginia B. Williams, age 96, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Saturday, October 14, 2023. Virginia started her career as a schoolteacher, where she remained for many years. She also worked with physically challenged adults for 30 years, where she developed her love for pottery, creativity, and passion for those who had special needs.

Virginia loved many things throughout her life including cigarettes, coffee, her family, crosswords, books, mints, ladybugs, and more recently, white butterflies. Her favorite color was green, and she loved feeding the family. Family was the keynote of her happiness. No matter the situation you were in, whether financially, emotionally, or physically, family was always welcome into her home. She always said, "take one day at a time.", which was her favorite motto. She had a gentle spirit that touched many people's lives throughout her life that will be greatly missed. She was funny, caring mother to all her family. Virginia was a simple, and smart person always working on crosswords throughout the day. Virginia's life was a life well lived.

Born on Tuesday, October 11, 1927, Virginia was born to Ira Sidney and Martha Frances (Smith) Bledsoe in Roda, Virginia. Virginia Williams is preceded in death by her husband, Paul R. Williams, Sr. She is also preceded in death by her sister, Sue Elliott, and her brothers, Don Bledsoe, and Arthur Gene Bledsoe. Virginia is survived by her brother, Charles Bledsoe and wife, Nyle. Virginia is also survived by her sons, Paul R. Williams, Jr. and wife, Jan and Mark A. Williams, and daughters, Beth A. Williams, her lifelong caretaker, and Patricia L. Heward, and husband, Jim. Virginia is survived by 7 grandchildren and many great grandchildren.

Family and friends may visit at the KIRKLEY RUDDICK FUNERAL HOME on Friday, October 20th, 10:30am - 11:30am. Funeral service to follow immediately, 11:30am. Interment Glen Haven Memorial Park.
