William Hansen Benson was born July 20, 1929 in Cochran, GA to the late James and Susan Hansen Benson and has lived in Severn, MD for the past 25 years. Mr. Benson proudly served as a Sergeant in the Army during the Korean Conflict. Following his time in the service he worked for many years as a heavy equipment operator for Reliable Contracting prior to his retirement. He was a 50 Year member of the Masonic Lodge in Cochran, GA as well as the Scottish Rite and a former member of the VFW and the Moose Lodge in Glen Burnie. Bill enjoyed boating, fishing, travel and trips back to his family homestead in Georgia. He is also a member of Nichols-Bethel United Meth. Ch. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by sisters Jimmie Roland, Elizabeth Foskey and Louise Thompson. He is survived by his beloved wife Shirley M. Stivers Benson as well as many nieces, nephews and in laws. Mr. Benson passed away at Marley Park Health & Rehab. Center after a brief illness.
