William Henry Rauck, Sr. was born in Baltimore on August 31, 1922 to Henry William and Myrtle Rauck (nee Swann) and has lived in Glen Burnie for the past 25 years after moving from Cockeysville. He served in Europe as a fighter pilot during WW II, serving from 1942-46. Bill was a restaurant owner who first owned the Pineridge Restaurant in Towson, then the Corner Stable in Cockeysville, where he was known for his barbecued ribs. A member of Corinthian Lodge of the Masons, he was a York Rite Shriner and a member of Boumi Temple. He loved spending time in Florida and owned several yachts which he used to Marlin Fish in the Bahamas. He also owned several race horses in earlier times. Bill enjoyed gardening and one a first place ribbon for his tomatoes at the Maryland State Fair. Bill is survived by his children Robert Rauck of FL and Sheri and William H. Rauck, Jr. of Maryland, his sisters, Elanora Griffin of Arkansas Carolyn Green of Westminster and Eileen Keeley of Florida, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be especially missed by his beloved companion and caregiver Julia D. Trayer of Glen Burnie and his dog Chi Chi. Bill passed away peacefully at Baltimore Washington Medical Center on Oct. 2.
